Procrastination is one of the major problems that many students struggle with. I honestly procrastinated a lot in the first two years of college but eventually, I got out of that habit (not completely 😂). Here are some tips that I found to be very helpful.
- Make a Checklist
- Making a checklist is good for keeping track of what needs to be done. It can help prioritize your to-dos. You can also use it to plan out and schedule the things you need to do in a day, week, etc.
- Touch it once Technique
- Once you have completed the major priorities for the day you can use the time you have left to touch on smaller items that you might have pushed to tomorrow before. As you just start one or two of these smaller items you will in fact become ahead of schedule instead of giving yourself the chance to fall behind.
- Pomodoro Technique
- This is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo. In this technique, you have to break study time into intervals. For example, for every 25-30 mins of studying you get a 5-10 min break. This is a great way to manage time and study efficiently.
- Rewarding Yourself
- Use the above technique and then reward yourself during the break. It is also important to have a reward planned so that you are looking forward to something after the completion of your tasks.
- Minimizing distractions
- Personally, I think that distractions lead to procrastination even more. Once you get on your phone, scrolling through so many social apps is very distracting. It is always wise to put your phone on ‘do not disturb mode’ or ‘airplane mode’. This will greatly help with overcoming procrastination.
I hope these tips help you guys out to do better in school (by overcoming procrastination) because they definitely helped me.
Nice
